As we enter that in-between time of the year its time to get out the cold weather gear.
I was talking to my friend Joe Ekart last week. He was going to stop by our jetski shop to exchange a part. I told Joe bring your ski and we can ride. Ride? he said isn’t it a bit cold. Cold? It’s still above 50 degrees and I own a dry suit. As an old Freestyle snow skier the thought of being in cold water does not bother me as long as I have the right gear. Lets face it if you go powder snow skiing you will find yourself up to your chin (at times ) in frozen water. I was supprized that Joe was not realy aware of the new dry suits that are now on the market. Not like the old nylon wind breaker style, but a neoprene suit that feels like your conventional wet-suit but keeps the water out. (Well mostly) As a freestyle rider a little water will sneek in do to impact. As long as you wear your Poly-Pros you will be warm as toast. Hands and feet will require some layering. Riders can also Double up wet-suits this works pretty well, but can be a little bulky. The biggest change I find in dry-suit riding is getting the zipper undone after you ride. Anyone that has use one knows that the water tight zipper is a bear to zip and un-zip but if it means an extended season I am all for it.
