Freestylers Flipped out as riders took to the air for two days in Kenosha Wisconsin. It was the last round of the Great Lakes Water Cross Tour. Freestyle was well represented. Freestyle Factory riders brought everything from the OEM Yamaha super jet, ridden by Ryan Pizzola, Wamiltons carbon fiber full length Pilot Greg Brock and Newly Sponsored rider Joe Eckert on his Superfreak back flip hull.
Do too tough economic times the last round was dropped from the schedule. So this was it, and the gang did not disappoint. On day one Mike Widdes moved up from amateur class. he thrilled spectators with his EME backflip hull and big bore motor. Mike pulled off a huge back flip then a one footer followed by two flips in a row giving him first place for the day. Greg Brock took 2nd on his freshly painted Freestyle Factory full length ski. Brock started with a big barrel roll then mixed in a nice variety of hood and balance tricks and a combo of inverts and rolls to give him a solid 2nd. Joe Eckert had some pipe problems but still thrilled the crowd with a few back flips on a borrowed ski. The flips impressed the judges but lack of variety left him in 3rd on the day. Ryan Pizzola ran hard on his OEM Yamaha but choppy Lake Michigan water was too much to overcome. He finished 4th. The fourth place finish did solidify him as the tour overall champion. Congrats to Ryan for a great season. On day two Eckert returned with has ski repaired and showed everyone he came to win hitting an awesome combo barrell roll to bronco to back flip for the first place finish. That left it up to the full length skis to battle it out. Brock opened with a bottom to bottom barrel roll that brought a roar from the fans that and some old school balance and hood tricks brought him 2nd on the day and moved him past Team Twangled teammate Gary Burtka for 2nd place over all.” Not the same without him here but I’ll take the win” Brock exclaimed after the event. Amateur Freestylers gave a nice show . George Kelly took first on Saturday riding his Kawasaki SXR he would also take home the overall for the 2011 season. Tom Franser finished first on Sunday with some nice rolls on his OEM modified Yamaha all in all a great time and a solid way to end the local season. Now its off to Nationals.
