With the Liquid X Freestyle Tour over for the season the team has been talking about the World Finals.
Gary Burtka stopped by last night to discuss the possibility of going to the world finals of freestyle in Lake Havasu this year. Last year as you may remember was a strange year with many of the big names boy-cotting the world finals. We here at Team Twangled are currious to see who will be riding in this years IJSBA World Finals. Last year it seemed that many of the non US riders held their own finals overseas. Though many still feel that the world finals are held here in the United States it would be hard not to admit that without riders like Lenzi, Fuji, and Lee Smith leaving only a few to compete in Pro class that they may have made a point. Patrick Mel of the APBA reconized the problem and started to make some changes like two classes for amature. This has carried over to the worlds this year and I think will be a welcome addition. Pro class is still pretty much open with only a few restrictions like 1200cc limit on motor size. Both Pro and amature still need a better scoring system but changes are hard to make so a little at a time is ok as long as we see more changes for next year. For Gary and I the cost of travel along with the cost of the larger motors and carbon fiber hulls has left us thinking as well. Sit out one more year or jump back in? We still have some time to think so stay tuned. In the mean time look for some new picks from this years Chicago Air & Water show I am waiting for a disc from Mike Hoffman with this years new pics.
