Twangling Alaska

I am out on another great Twangled adventure. Destination… Alaska. After 7 days at sea on the biggest DAM boat that I have ever been on, and stopping at 3 Alaskan ports along the way, I now find myself in Seaward Alaska tracking brown bear. No, we have not become a hunting and game site. I just can’t think of anything more extreme than tracking one of the fiercest animals in North America hoping to shoot them only with a Det-Chi Video camera. The last 7 days have been truly amazing during my first visit to Alaska. No jet skiing this week…Instead we have chosen to enjoy some of our other most extreme sports. Juneau, Alaska was the destination for our first extreme event. Ten zip line run’s, two bridges, a little off-roading in a Mercedes Military Vehicle and some repelling highlighted the Juneau port stop. Hat’s off to our personal zip line instructors and guides. They had Kyle, Gary Sr. and I flying in no time at all thanks to some great instructions and technical advice. We cruised at speeds in access of 55 MPH while dangling on lines over 180 over gorges, beaches, ruins and trees. If you have never tried zip lining, I strongly recommend it. Not sure what zip lining is. Stay tuned to Twangled.com as I will be putting together another Twangled Downloaded segment with some killer Alaskan footage. That’s right, I have some sick helmet cam footage of that zip line run and we are hoping that is only the beginning. This week we also plan to do a little whitewater rafting and possibly a quadventure. Kyle and I became the first Team Twangled riders to enjoy a polar bear dip. YIKES! It was cold, but one has to to find new and interesting ways to thicken their blood prior to a rafting trip of this caliber. Speaking of extreme rides, today we took a tour aboard a Glacier Express boat to take in some of the Alaskan sights. The boat held over 40 passengers and I must say it was quite a ride. With foul weather, blustering winds and rain we did not make it to our Glacier destination. However, the ride was quite extreme. As sea swells rose to over 7 feet, vomit bags were pulled out and our tiny ship was tossed. What a ride!! Stay tuned for video, pictures and more stories on our Alaskan Adventure. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate another Championship season! Whoo Hoo…
