IJSBA National Jet Ski Tour ? Round 1 ? Panama City, Florida
Its May 5th, just a short week and a half before the IJSBA National jet ski tour kicks off in Panama City, Florida. If your like me and living in the still chilly north, you may be considering a vacation trip down to Florida for the first round of IJSBA National tour in about a decade.
Like me, you may also be looking at a huge oil slick in the Gulf and thinking that this event is just not going to happen. As Greg Brock and I toiled with the thought of a Freestyle Factory investment in such a trip, I decided to reach out to AJ Handler whom is putting on the tour. AJ is on top of everything! While I don?t recommend you contact him, as he is really busy getting ready for the event, I do recommend you take a few moments and book the trip!
The weather in Florida has been very nice, with the exception of the oil that is. AJ is working with state and local officials to stay abreast of the situation. He tells me that the event is in fact on and talk of canceling are not happening and will NOT happen. THE SHOW WILL GO ON.
With that in mind, I proceeded to learn more about what the freestyle portion of the event was going to look like. The IJSBA National Tour will be trying a new format for the 2010 National Tour. Not only will freestyle entrees be free ? YES FREE, but there will also be $1000 in prize money available paid across top 3 finishers ($500 For 1st Place, $300 for 2nd Place and $200 for 3rd Place). The scoring for the event overall will also be new for 2010. A combined two-run system will determine the weekend and event overall, determining the points for the overall National Championship.
The Freestyle Factory sponsored Twangled Team is planning on attending 2-3 of the 2010 IJSBA National Tour stops in addition to the 2010 Great Lakes Watercross Tour.
Watch for Freestyle to begin sharply at Noon on Saturday in Panama City. See you there.
