One round Jet ski water cross on the Black River just shy of the ole Mississippi. What a sight for Racing and Freestyle. Tight course wavy bottom made for some challenging riding and high lap counts. On the freestyle side Gary Burtka continued to show his understanding of water conditions. Taking first with a routine designed to deal with shallow water. The sight required a tight course so we did not interfere with traffic on the Black River.
This kept the racing action right in front of the beach so spectators got a great view of all the action. Open runabout needed a bit more room but the skilled racers made adjustments which had the crowd on the edge of their seats or towels as the case may be. We also saw some new racers getting their feet wet. Best of all the sponsors came through with a nice group of prizes. Steiger Powersports provide T-shirts for all competitors as well as Three nice helmets. Skat Trak $100.00 gift certs for 2nd place. Det Chi Video provided those “got a have “”Twangled” DVDs. It was good to see that sponsors were getting involved. Rewarding competitors with more that a trophy is a great way to say thanks for coming out as well as giving everyone something more to shoot for. If you are thinking about getting involved don’t hesitate entry fees are low if you register early and if you score a win you could go home richer than when you got there.
